Loose Parts Play

Loose parts play has endless benefits for young children. Loose parts play increases physical activity, strengthen muscles, increases focus and engagement, encourages collaboration and teamwork, and boost their natural curiousity. Children manipulate a range of resources, tools and materials to transform them into something completely new.

Theorist Piaget believes that children are active learners and that children must be given opportunities to explore, discover and experiment. We agree that experimentation and exploration is crucial for children to become creative and critical thinkers.

Children’s Week also took place from 22nd to 30th October and is an opportunity to celebrate children’s curiosity and support their development, emphasising the importance of play based learning. Allowing children time to guide their own play is a vital part of their growth!
