Today, the children participated in the KidsROAR “Little Paws, Big ROAR” personal safety program, which empowers young children with the knowledge, confidence and simple strategies they need to help keep themselves safe.
During the session, the children learnt about:
• Feelings and emotions
• Recognising safe and unsafe feelings
• Understanding that everyone has the right to feel safe at all times
• Recognising early warning signs when something doesn’t feel right
• What consent means
• Understanding that their body belongs to them
• Saying “NO” when someone is making them feel unsafe
• Using the “STOP! I DON’T LIKE IT!” strategy
• Identifying trusted adults they can talk to when they feel worried, unsafe or confused
• Understanding that they can talk to someone they trust about anything
• The difference between safe and unsafe secrets
The children participated in fun and engaging activities throughout the session, helping them develop simple strategies and confidence to support their personal safety.
