Preparing Confident Learners for School

Our Butterflies room supports children aged 4 to 6 years through their final and most important stage before starting school. With a strong focus on transition to school, children build the academic, social and emotional foundations they need for a confident, successful start to their schooling journey.

This is a dynamic, structured stage of our preschool program, designed to mirror elements of a classroom environment while still celebrating play, creativity and curiosity.

Our daily experiences include:

  • Structured literacy and numeracy activities aligned with school-readiness benchmarks
  • Group learning time that builds focus, listening skills and classroom routines
  • Collaborative projects that build teamwork and communication
  • Creative arts, music and movement to support well-rounded development
  • Regular excursions to local schools, libraries and community spaces, giving children real-world exposure and confidence ahead of school

Through our program, children in the Butterflies room build:

  • Strong literacy and numeracy foundations aligned with school-readiness goals
  • Independence, resilience and the confidence to problem-solve on their own
  • Social and emotional skills including empathy, cooperation and conflict resolution
  • Familiarity with classroom-style routines, following instructions and group collaboration
  • Real-world knowledge and confidence gained through excursions and community engagement

As a leading early learning and childcare centre near Hurstville, we take pride in preparing children not just academically, but emotionally and socially — so every child feels ready, capable and genuinely excited to begin “big school.” Our close partnerships with local primary schools and community spaces make the Butterflies room an essential final step in your child’s early learning journey.
