The Rights of the Child
This week is Children’s Week! This week is all about celebrating the achievements of children, the diversity of children and is all about inclusivity. Children’s Week also gives us the great opportunity to educate our children on their fundamental rights.
We here at KOTA hold honouring the rights of our children to the greatest significance and there are several ways in which we create a respectful environment, including; respectful language, modelling consent by asking for children’s permission, and having a child directed learning environment.
This year’s theme is based on Article 15 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child – ‘Children have the right to choose their own friends and safely connect with others.’ This year’s theme perfectly reflects the this time of year. With getting out of lockdown and restrictions easing, it is more important than ever that children know they have the right to choose their own friends and connect with others safely.
We are dedicated to making children aware of their rights and creating a respective, encouraging environment. At Kidz on the Avenue, we celebrate Children’s week every single day!
